Terriers - jack Russells who fight for blood

Expert: Tammy Colbert, CMG, CAH - 4/23/2009

Question
I have 3 Jack Russells.  Two are females are they don't get along as well as I would like.  Mostly, they are OK but they have had 2 serious fights.  One fight kept going for 15 minutes.  I was at a loss what to do.  I love them so much I hate to think of giving one away but I also cannot live with another bloody fight.  What do you suggest? Can I ever trust them again.  They fight over treats mostly.  Two dogs I have had for 5 years and the new one for 4 months. thanks.  KW

Answer
No you can never trust them again to be alone.  This time it may have been treats....next time it may be someone at the door.  You will never know what will trigger an attack.

You know the ol saying.......2's company...3's a crowd.  I would suggest going back to 2.

I lived with rotating dogs that fought.  One in the house.  One in a crate.  I can tell you from experience that its no fun at all.

Its your call though.  I am just telling you what has happened to me and others it has happened to.

Good luck,
Tammy
