Question
Oh no, I took our sweet little cairn for her first grooming. Did not know about their coats.  The groomer or girl let's say, cut her like a schnauzer, I don't know what to do. I am afraid that her coat will come back soft. Is that possible just one time. And what do I do from here?  Thanks so much.. Help.. lucinda

Answer
The coat should be fine.  Get with a local dog club and they should have a recommendation for a groomer that does "HAND STRIPPING".  Make sure that you ask questions when you call.  There are groomers out there that will say yes and you get your dog back and its clippered all over. The groomer looks at you and says....I took the clippers in my HAND and STRIPPED the hair off.  NO no no.....ask for other references on other hand stripped breeds they do.

I actually showed a Cairn a year after she was completely clippered down and took her to a group placement.

Good Luck,
