There are many different types of diseases that are Thyroid related such as Graves Disease (Hyperthyroid) or Hypothyroid which can be related to the Thyroid itself, the pituitary gland or the hypothalamus. There is one commonality that you wont read about in the main text, and that is the fact that the brainstem runs all of those glands and if there is a problem at the brainstem level it could very be the cause of the abnormal function at the thyroid or the pituitary or the hypothalamus.
