Question
Does hypothyroidism give rise to halitosis

Answer
Hello Erden,
Warm welcome to you!
Halitosis means bad breath, and the cause for halitosis can be oral and extraoral.
In hypothyroid patient halitosis can occur because of constipation, I mean to say it is possible but its very rare because our stomach has sphincters which remains closed when person is not eating. So very little chance of odour coming from Gastro intestinal tract. Most of the times halitosis is because of bad oral hygiene or respiratory tract infection or sinusitis.

I hope it helped.

Take care. Have a great day. Bye.
