Question
Hello doctor!

I had an ultrasound done of my neck because doctor was suspecting g thyroid due to my huge neck. When I got the report, it mentions - "report shows linear density in hypopharynx. Could be calcification."

What does this mean?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Answer
Aneesha,
Warm welcome to you!
The calcification could mean chances of thyroid nodule forming. But If we repeat ultrasound after 6 months we can get confirmation. If it is so then you may need FNA in future to test whether its benign or malignant.

Thanking you!
