About Karen Brawner Expertise I will answer any questions you have regarding the thyroid whether it be cancer, cysts (types), hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, blood tests for thyroid problems, surgery, fine needle biopsies etc...
Experience My complex cysts on my right thyroid gland and the isthmus were found my accident when my doctor thought I was having a TIA. The ultrasound found a complex cysts the size of a golf ball (which turned out to be the size of a tennis ball when it was surgically remove). Doctors were totally surprised because for 5 years, including the day I went to surgery, all of my thyroid blood work was "within the normal range". So much for blood work being conclusive..
I have been fighting with my thyroid for 5 years. I have had 1/2 removed due to hoshimoto's and am hypo. I take 150mgs of Armour Thyroid and once again my other side is growing. What do you know about a total removal of the tyroid? What are the syptoms and will I began to feel better? I am tired, can't lose weight etc. I need help. I want it out but am scared. Can you help.
Answer Dear Margaret, THere are no guarantees that with the TOTAL thyroid removed that you won't still suffer the symptoms that you are currently having... Infact, you will be on more medication and probably T3 and T4 medications like not along with other thyroid medications.....
THerefore, don't think that taking out the entire thyroid is going to miraculously heal you and you will be fine... It will not.......
