About Vicharn Lipisuwanchote Expertise I'm a 5th year medical student and I have Graves' disease. I can help you with information. I also welcome all other medical problems.
Question I'm new here. I was diagnosed as severely hypothyriod about 8 years ago. I was swelled up like the Pillsbury Dough Boy with all the classic symptoms. That's mostly all under control now and I'm 40 pounds lighter.
I'm on 150 mcg of levoxyl, stepped up from the 125 mcg I started on. My latest test showed free T-4 of 1.9 (normal listed as .71 - 1.85) and TSH of .6 (normal listed as .32 -5.0). My doc says everything is normal but I just don't feel right. I'm depressed most of the time, can't sleep well, sometimes have numbness of the hands and am generally nervous and jumpy...and I sweat like a pig. I've had clogged arteries that had to be treated with stents. From what I've read, the free T-4 of 1.9 is high for someone with a history of heart disease.
Does what is going on with me sound like something related to the levoxyl dosage?
Do I need to go to a doctor other than an internal medicine doctor?
Answer have you complaint this to your doctor?
i don't think that maintain your t4 in lower level would harm you, so you can ask for decreased dose if you want.
and if t4's level is lowered but no symptoms improvement, we should lok for another cause, usually anxiety is in suspected.
i don't think so you need endocrinologist to adjust your dose right now, just ask your current doctor.tell him you feel very bad about this.
if you have palpitation, it's not good for your coronary artery disease.maybe you need to tell the doctor.
lower t4 level means your t4 is in upper limit and little bit high and your TSH is low normal.which mean you currently have high normal thyroid hormone level.so i'd be better if you decrease dose of thyroxine.
