Question
When the Dr. removes your Para Thyroid, what does he do, do you need your Para Thyroid? Do you take meads. after they are removed?

Answer
yes, you need it to maintain calcium level in blood.and need med. if you loss all 3-4 parathyroid glands.
i think it's quite rare if you do subtotal or near-total thyroidectomy in hyperthyroidism.
but if you have to do total thyroidectomy because suspected carcinoma, it's need to do operation.
