Question
My thyroid Sonogram has shown that right lobe measures 5.8 X 2.5 X 2.7 cm, and there is a prominent isoechoic nodule or mass in the midportion and lower pole of the right thyroid lobe measuring 3.7 X 2.6 X 3.0 cm.
The left lobe measures 4.4 X 1.4 X 1.2 cm. Isoechoic nodule is seen in the upper pole measuring 1.1 cm. I have been asked to take Radio isotope thyroid scan, which is due on Nov 23rd.
How serious does this sound? I understand this can be cancerous. can you tell what are the chances by the above facts?

Answer
by the size, quite a high potency to be a milignancy.
but important foctor are : it's border, if it's well defined or irregular,: if it's character heterogenous or not :how it grows , slow or fast.
however , i think, for you it's needed to do a biopsy to confirm if it's malignant.
