Question 2 weeks ago i had half my thyroid (the right one) removed because of a large nodule (3.0x2.5x2.0 cm). The pathology report said that I had a follicular lesion, favor benign. My endcrinologist is urging me to go on thyroid hormones so I don't grow other nodules. Also my post-surgical tests are TSH 2.76 and T4, free is 1.2. Six months ago my TSH was 2.3 and T4 was .8. My questions are: Are large follicular lesions pre-cancerous? Are my thyroid levels low or low normal? (I'm at least 70 lbs overweight, female, 44). I'm so confused as to what is normal. Is it T4 that tells me whether my metabolism is slow or fast? And does thyroid hormone pill prevent nodules? Thank you.
Answer no benign folliculoma is not a pre-cancerous tumor.
but when you have pathology report as follicular cells, it 's needed to be taken out.
you are now euthyroid(normal).don't pay attention to the weight that has been too much, just monitoring it how it changes.
thyroid hormone will suppress function of thyroid gland, so it's possible reduce chance for a new nodule.but no needed in benign tumor if you are euthyroid.
