Question howm much do white bengal tigers need to eat per day? do they eat three times a day like we do?
Answer Hi, Mariah
An adult Bengal tiger needs about 8 or 9 kilograms of meat each day to survive. However, in the wild, it is difficult to get food, so when a tiger hunts another animal, it can eat up to 20 kilograms of meat!
It is certainly much more than it needs, but eating that much allows the tiger to spend several days without eating anything, just in case he doesnīt find any more food.
Tigers donīt have a breakfast, lunch and dinner time as we do. For example, if they catch a small animal they will likely be hungry soon, and probably eat again the same day. However, if they catch a big animal with a lot of flesh, such as a deer, buffalo or wild boar, they will eat as much as they can in one single meal, and perhaps they wonīt eat until the next day.
By the way, white Bengal tigers are not found in the wild; they are found only in zoos, circuses and private sanctuaries. Thus, they are regularly feed by humans, and this means that they get a daily, rather moderate meal. Captive tigers must not be overfed because they donīt get do do as much exercise as wild tigers and if they eat too much, they can get obese and sick.
