Time-Shares/Westgate Las Vegas

Question
My husband and I went to Las Vegas, NV to enjoy a weekend together. AS we were walking down the strip we were approched by a man offering us free shows. We only had to go to a 90 min thing about timeshares. We told the sales guy that we wouldn't be interested at this time because we were getting ready to buy a house. He then told us this would look great on our credit "owning" a condo on the las vagas blvd. He then lowered the price of a 2 bdrm for every other year to a price we though would be okay. We bought the PH Westgate timeshare on August 23rd. After we arrived home we deceided to cancel the time share and buy into something after we were assured we would have enough money to get our house. I read online that we needed to send a certified letter by 5 days. We sent our letter on August 26th and they received it the 31st. My questions are is it 5 business days and do they go by the post mark day or the day they received it? Also my sales rep said his sales licence had exspiered and he needed to renew it the next day. If it really was exspiered could this also be something that can get us out of this contract?

Answer
Hi Kristine,
The cancellation in Nevada is 5 days (not 5 business days) and they do have to honor the postmark day.  The cancellation notice should always be sent certified mail, return receipt so that you have verification they received it.  If they deny the cancellation and you need assistance in getting this resolved, please contact me and we will handle this for you.
