Time-Shares - Cancelling Timeshare-Liki Tiki Village in Kissimmee, FL-Robert Paisola Responds and VISITS SITE!

Question Hi. In August of this year, my husband and I attended a timeshare thing b/c someone kept ringing our phone off the hook because we had 'won' a free cruise and a $40 gas certificate. My husband made arrangements for us to attend Liki Tiki Village in Kissimmee, FL to obtain these 'free' gifts. At no point in time were we told we would be attending a timeshare promotion and that they would try to hassle us into buying. In fact, it was more like we were going to just spend a typical day at their hotel as we were told to bring our swimsuits and other family members if we wanted, that we could spend the day there. We get there and sure enough, it's a timeshare promotion. So, we decide to at least listen to what they have to say. (This part in and of itself takes almost 3 hours.) So, we listen to what they have to say, say 'no thanks' and then the hustling begins. This goes on for almost another 2 hours! First they send some slick mouthed man over that looked like a con man - that was a definite no...then they send another man over and between those two and the lady we were originally placed with, they pretty much keep at us until we give up and give in because this is becoming a tiring process and we would like to go home eventually. Now, getting all of the papers in order - this takes another hour or more! (Wow, we had fun spending our day at the hotel - not!) We are shuffled into an office with a woman who is supposedly a real estate lawyer. She informs us to just sign the papers, it has all already been gone over. We do this to a point, but still skim over them. Finally, we are allowed to go home - without a cruise *we'll get that when we finish making the down-payment* and a coupon book with four tickets for 10 dollars each where we can get 10 dollars worth of gas at a time then mail in the tickets *one at a time, mind you* to get a refund each time. Now, I drive a Durango...where am I going to get on 10 bucks? Anyway, it's not really any of the 'free' prizes that bother me. I could care less about them. I don't even care about the initial money I put down. Now, a little less than a month goes by and my husband and I are trying to call them to ask a question. We call and call and call and get no response. When we finally get a response, we have decided if we can't get a hold of people who are supposed to 'always be available' during business hours, we don't want this timeshare. So, my husband tells them we want to cancel. "Oh, your 10 days are passed that you could cancel." we are told. Why did someone not disclose this to us in our 6-hour pow wow that we had is what I want to know? And then they said it was in the paperwork, well, it's not in the paperwork I have here. My husband and I have both been over it several times. I have contacted the BBB here in Florida which has now sent me a letter saying they cannot help any further because the person which they contacted and who has been trying to contact us has not heard anything from us...and that's a lie because my husband has been trying call her back for the past week now. He got a hold of her the other day and when asked how we could resolve this issue, he told her we wanted to cancel the timeshare, she said she'd talk to someone and get back to us and that has yet to happen and now we get a letter stating that we have failed to contact them! I am hopping mad. Anyway, I just want to know where I can go from here or is my credit just going to be damaged by all of this?
