Time-Shares - RCI International

Expert: Stacey Zimmerman - 6/9/2005

Question
I have been to a presentation by RCI in Edmonton, Alberta.  The deal looks good with 33,000 points every two years for $11,000 Canadian dollars.(13,000 USD)

We are thinking about it but are wary of spending that kind of money, and just aren't knowledgeable about Vacation ownership.

What is the downside of purchasing from RCI?

Answer
Hello George,

RCI does not sell timeshare, they are an "Exchange Company" that various resorts are affiliated with. So you would not be purchasing from RCI directly. I think you need to get a better education on timeshare in general. A good place to start would be the "Timeshare Users Group" their web site is www.tug2.net
Also you should investigate the resort that you are considering buying from, see if the are any consumer complaints against them, I'm sure ther must be some department in the Canadian government that oversee's timeshare developers and sellers.
I hope this info helps.

Good Luck!
Stacey Zimmerman
