One year ago we were pressured into buying a Grand Mayan timeshare while on RCI exchange at Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta. The day after we signed the papers we felt buyer's remorse and wanted to back out (it was $32k plus trade-in of our other timeshare prop). Like many others, we were told since we did an equity exchange with our Hilton GVC property, we had rescinded our right to cancel. At the time we did not know this was untrue and an illegal practice so we grudgingly resigned ourselves to keeping the timeshare.   While a nice property, we have since discovered that we could have bought the same thing on the resale market at a huge savings and we're having a hard time paying the $800 yearly maintenance fees for each of the 2 weeks/yr. Their claims of our being able to rent each of the weeks for big dollars has also proven to be untrue.  
Since 11 months have gone by now I don't think there is much we can do other than sell the timeshare. We have been contacted by several resale companies but we've only spoken to sellmytimesharenow.com and they claim to be the largest, getting the most hits. They charge a $500 listing fee. In your opinion, is this the best way to sell our timeshare and if not, what is a better way? eBay seems to have very low resale values so I would go there as a buyer but not a seller. Do you think it's worth asking Grupo Mayan if they would buy it back, at a huge loss to us of course? Thank you for your unbiased opinion.

Here is my position.  You got screwed.  And by paying sellmytimesharenow.com a 500.00 Listing Fee, you are adding good money to bad.

So, all that I would suggest is that you dump the thing on EBAY and NEVER EVER EVER BUY ANOTHER TIMESHARE!

If you need to verify this, simply google, the words TIMESHARE RIPOFF.
