Question
I am a owner of timeshare in Virginia at Powhatan Plantation since 1988.  Recently I have been looking to sell but find that any websites or companies  that will list it want money up front. Do you know of any that do not?  ONe of the reasons I am looking to do this is I would like to look into the Marriott program but cannot until I sell.  I own a  sleep 12 6/6 lockout for one or two weeks.  The week I own is Red time week 24.  Any info would be appreciated thank you

Answer
Tony,
First of all DON"T PAY ANYONE AN UPFRONT FEE TO SELL YOUR TIMESHARE FOR YOU. You may as well throw your money away.
You will be better off if you spend your money for an ad in a newspaper (timeshare for sale- USA Today or the largest city near the resort,Richmond,Washington, etc.)

Also you may learn a thing or two at;
http://www.arda.org/consumer/resale/resale.htm

A competent real estate broker will not charge their commision up front to list with them, just like selling a house the commission is earned upon the closing of a sale. However I do not have any brokers to recommend at this time.

I think that you should also look into ebay, yahoo auctions as an other possible ways to sell.

Also you can post your unit for sale for a small ($10-20) fee at www.tug2.net and www.redweek.com

When you are ready to look into Marriott give me a call.

Please rate my answer and GOOD LUCK!
