I am trying to find out how one goes about, or the process of selling a timeshare on your own. I do know that you need to register the deed with the Registry of Deeds in the County/State the timeshare is located. But what else is required? Do you simply write up an agreement between the buyer and seller, bringing that to the Registry of Deeds for them to make the changes in the Registry and giving you a copy of the deed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Julie
Answer Julie,
Are you the seller or the buyer? If you are the buyer you should get TITLE INSURANCE, and usually the title insurance company can handle the whole transaction. You need to have a deed prepared and recorded also depending on where the timeshare is located you may need to pay transfer tax or tax stamps for the deed. You also want to have proof that all previous years maintenence fees and property taxes have been paid. If you are the seller, you would need to have a deed prepared for you to sign and convey the propoerty to the buyer. I suggest Chicago Title company (you should be able to find them on the internet). I think that you should also look into redweek.com as other possible ways to sell. Also look at www.tug2.net
