Question If we own a time share and do not pay the maintenance fee for the year, are we penalized in any other way besides losing that week for the year?
Answer Well, you will have to pay it if you want to use it or sell it. So, if you don't pay this year and pay next year, you still won't be able to use it. You must pay all back maintenance fees in order to use it or sell it in the future. Also, they could harass you to pay, or possible give it to a collection agency which may then affect your credit.
