1) I'm looking to purchase a used car & registered with CARFAX to search for vehicle histories. I've been contacting dealers via email to request certain VIN #'s but when there were "discrepancies", I was told the information was incorrect. I have several examples...
2) I'm single and have no male friends to go with me to dealerships (none of them are car-savvy.)
I've read your tips and feel empowered by the information but at the end of the day, I'm not comfortable going to a dealership alone: a walking target.

You never completed entering your postal code, not that it matters, I assume your in Canada ?
I will admit when most salespeople deal with a woman they think they have the upperhand, but that is not always the case as I have had a fair number that were well informed on the buying process, lets see if we can get you to that stage.
I have 2 suggestions
(1) When you have located a car that your really interested to buy, send me a link and I will guide you through the process making sure you get value.
(2) Reply to this email with your phone # and best time to call, make sure you check the " make private box " or your phone number will be public.
