Question
What if the owner doesn't have the papers to the bike? what sort of hoops do I
have to jump through. p.s I'm in canada

Answer
Hey Dennis, there are no hoops without papers.

PS,,, I am in Canada also, and from one Canuck to another you don't buy a bike without having proper ownership in hand that you can take to licence office for transfer into your name...

Now if the owner, is the real Mc Coy, then go with him to the Licence office and let him apply for a lost ownership, and then a transfer into your name...
