Tips on Buying Cars - Dealer inventory

Expert: Jeremy Beck - 5/25/2009

Question
Can you tell me what happens to the new cars that never sell? Where do they go? And how can the general public find out about these cars?

Answer
Brian,

Thanks for your question.

A dealer that goes out of business will send his new cars to auctions, that are closed to the public and only open to someone that has a dealers license.  If the dealer does not go out of business, more than likely they will keep the vehicle until it sales, or sell it to themselves, write it down money wise and sell it as a used car.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - JB
