Tips on Buying Cars - buying a car from Germany

Expert: Ray Paulsen - 7/9/2006

Question
Mr. Paulsen
I am a Greek living in California and i visit my hometown every summer for about 2 months. Since renting a car in Greece for the entire summer can be expensive i considered buying a used car from Germany and taking it to Greece for the months that i'm there.  I would like to know if it's an easy procedure and what fees i would have to pay to cross the borders and/or to make it legal to drive in Greece.   Thank you for your time
Ignatios

Answer
Hi Ignatios
I have sold many cars where buyer has shipped vehicle out of country and discovered every country got a different set of rules when it comes to import...
Here is whom you contact as per cost and the rules for import to Greece
