Toyota Repair - 1996 toyota camry

Expert: paul p. - 4/24/2004

Question
my 96 toyota camry 2.2 liter would not pass new
smog in california.
engine does lack power under load.
could it be oxygen sensor and egr valve failure.
vehicle has 110,000 miles on it, never replaced either part.are there any universal part nimbers available to replace?
thank you,
32621

Answer
change the plugs and wires first. good spark= clean burn!
then i would do a fuel injection service to clean the injectors up= keeps emmisions down. IF THE O2 SENSOR OR EGR WHERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY IT WOULD HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON!
go and change the above mentioned parts and you should pass. how bad did the car fail.. do you have the specs from the failure.. if so send them to me, i can tell what is going on by the numbers
