Toyota Repair/1998 Toyota Camry -- Check Engine Light -- P0770

Question
The car is a 1998 Toyota Camry 4cyl.  The ODBII reports P0770 -- Shift Solenoid E Malfunction.

I cleared it last night, and it didn't come back on, nor has it come back on driving to work.

What should I do about it?  My first thought was to replace the tranmission fluid and filter.  If the light continues to come on is there more that should be done?

Answer
At this time I would not be too concerned, drive it and see if the light comes on again, this solenoid is the torque converter lock-up solenoid, it may be a good idea to just have the transmission flushed with a machine(call your dealer)it's possible a small particle got stuck in the solenoid and came out again, if this problem persists the E-solenoid needs to be replaced.
