Question
Hey, my name is Matthew and I have a 1990 Toyota pickup 5 speed 98,000 miles. When I shift it into 2nd and fourth it pops out of gear. It pops out more in the summer time, but it always pops out when I let off the gas. What do you suggest I do?

Answer
Replace the shifter bushings in the shift tower on top of the transmission, this is the most common cause for this problem, the console on the inside has to be removed and then the shift boot and the shifter, there is one bushing inside the opening and one on the end of the shifter.
