Toyota Repair/Seafoam

About 2010 I bought a 10 yr old Ford PU. When I bought it the previous owner told me he had just changed out timing belts. I thought -good. I noticed a ping like timed too fast or low octane gas but was always there. Tried retarding timing, using premium gas but still there. My brother suggested Seafoam & I thought why not. I put a can in the gas and drove it like it suggests but it started missing. Took it to a garage who said it needed plugs & wires, which didn't help then they said it needed a valve job so I gave them the ok. After doing the heads they said nothing was wrong with them but now they think it was a piston. They dismantled it and sure enough #3 piston had blown the top off but it wasn't visible until they pulled it. To this day I'm sure that Seafoam caused a combustion that #3 piston could not handle because the valve timing was off.
