Toyota Repair/catalyst not ready

Question
Hi experts

I was getting a check engine light when driving in hot weather for more than 2 hours continuous on the highways going downhill. I don't get a CEL when driving within city ever. Every time I got a CEL i reset it as per my mechanic says. now i failed emission because Catalyst was not in ready state. I research and look for drive cycles and did few cycles but CAT is still not ready. My question is should I keep trying those cycles or go to dealer and ask a quote which I know will be expensive?

Any help will be appreciated..

Answer
Hello, the cat converter will not go into ready mode because it is failing, the reason it turns the CEL on is that when it gets hot it stops functioning correctly then the light goes of after it cools sown, most independent muffler shops can weld a new cat in for you a lot cheaper than the dealer OEM parts.
