Check the wires in the trunk and around the rear license plate.  Also wires in trunk lid. The wire may eb bare and exposed to ground after many years of rubbing on metal in these places.  It happens.

According to the haynes auto manual for this vehicle (I have the same) its simple to test for a ground fault using a twelve volt test light. Disconnect the negative battery terminaland make sure it is secure and not in contact with metal car surfaces. Then clamp the light to the negative cable and contact the negative terminal. Im not going to quote the book from here but it lists the troubleshooting steps for isolating the problem. I just wanted to give yiu an idea to help you bring an end to your repeating issue. Very easy way to avoid unnecessary frustration
