Question
I am 15 years old. I have started training for athletics opne month ago after doing well in recent school competitions. I can do the 100m in 11.6 seconds and triple jump for the West Midlands which my best is12.5 wind assisted but normally do about 11.8.
However, I feel I have the capacity to be a good 400m runner. What sort of things could I do to train myself for the 400m race e.g how should I train on the track and in the gym and what should I be eating?

Answer
Sean,
To train for the 400 this is what you should do. On a track run 100 fast then slow down, turn around and jog back 50. Then turn around and run a fast 100. Continue doing this until you complete one lap. Do this once or twice a week. Don't eat anything special just eat what you usually eat.
