Question
I have been coaching HS track for 7 years and now a Middle School track coach for the first time. I am not sure if I can use the same workouts for them or not. I based my training off of Clyde Hart's program. Is this too much for Middle School to handle? Can they run 500's? I am looking for a sample program or an idea of what to do for these young sprinters.

Answer
Hello Tyson,
Yes, his program will be too much. What you have to do is cater his program to each of your athletes. In other words, they can do less volume and at a slower pace. It is still good for them to do 500's, just do not have them try to run them to fast and you may want to give them more recovery in between.
The important thing is to cater it toward your athlete. You have to have confidence in yourself and start to recognize and understand what works and what does not work for your athletes. Once you get that, you will be able to get a better workout plan. No one workout or workout plan works the same for everyone. Just twick it for that particular person.

I hope this helps!
