Track & Field - sprinting

Expert: Byron Collyer - 5/20/2009

Question
Hi.I play soccer and play on the wing so i require alot of speed.I am one of the fastest on the team but i feel there is something holding me back lately.I think i have developed a bad habit of pointing my toes outwards when im sprinting and i feel this is not giving me the explosive start that i need.I s this true and how can i fix it?I do sprint on my toes but i want to know if pointing my toes slighlty in will help me sprint faster?

Answer
This toe position could be normal if you have relatively muscular thighs. I would suggest seeking the help of an athletic trainer that can actually look at your stride and assess properly where this toe position is originating from and whether it needs to be changed.

hope this helps.
