Question QUESTION: hello, my name is Matt and i am a sophmore in highschool. i run a 51.64, 400m dash. i know that i have the endurance to run the 400 but i am not sure how i can get more speed because i seem to stay at the same speed for the whole race and i have no kick at the end. can you help me?
ANSWER: Hello Matt,
you should work on speed and race strategy. You can do speed build ups of 60 to maybe 150's . ALso, focus on working on each part of your race. Have you learned how to properly run the 400? At the end, the goal is to maintain and not speed up. No one really speeds up, they just are not slowing down. It looks like people speed up because a lot of people are slowing so much. WOrk on your race pattern and practice it in training.

QUESTION: Honestly, come to think of it i havent ever actually learned how to preoperly run it. When i run it i just try my best to sprint the entire thing. Is there some strategy that i should try to use?
Answer You have to find a strategy that works bst for you. This is done bt practice. Practice a race plan and then use it in the race.
