Question Hey there, I'm Alex. I just turned 13 in May and at the end of summer I will be in 7th grade. 7th grade is the first year in our school that we can try cross country. I'm not sure if you would be able to answer one about cross country since you special in track and field but it's worth a shot i guess! So as I said 7th grade is the first year we can do cross country and I've decided that I was going to try it. I am more of a sprinter than a distance runner but I figured that doing cross country would help condition me for track and field practices earlier the next year. BTW, I might be more of a sprinter but I am able to keep running the distance I need to run. Ok, my question is how much should I run and how long this summer to prepare for the practices? We have practices everyday after school and we run around 2 miles I think. Thanks for having the time to read my question!
Answer Hello Alex,
running 2 miles everyday is fine. This is going to give you great background and strength for your season. It is good to get this type of conditioning. Go ahead and go for it and enjoy it. Just do not overdo it. Your coach will know how much to give you since you are a sprinter.
