Question my daughter is 16 and runs varsity track in high school. She runs the 400m/4x2 & 4x4 relay, can you suggest a workout/diet for her to do over the summer?
Answer Hello Lynette,
I am not an advocate for diets for high school kids unless they are overweight. As long as se eats a well balanced meals then she should be fine.
As far as the summer workouts are concerned. She should just do strengthning stuff such as light weights, some core and a little base training such as miles. Yet, do not do too much. It really depends on her coaches pilosophy. I do not want to suggest anything that goes against her coaches philosophy or program. Try to make sure she eat well balanced meals wit fruit and vegetables, not too many sweets and soda, and not eat too much at any one given meal. In the summer just light training to stay in sape and stay strong.
