Question I am trying to design a track for an elementary school for my Boy Scout Eagle project. I want a track that will take 16 trips around to make a mile. I assume that the straight aways are 25 meters and the ovals are 25 meters each but what is the width of the field and the dimensions of the curves? Where can I get a blue print of the dimensions?
Thanks,
Ryan Bradford
Answer Ryan,
The distance around 1/2 of a circle is 3.142 times the radius of the circle. If the oval is 25m then the width is 25 divided by 3.142. That would make it a very short sharp turn. You should consider making it a complete circle track then the curve would not be so sharp.
