Question
What is the best way to get young jumpers to establish a consistant approach and how many steps do you recommend for the long and triple jumps-especially for athletes in the 13-15 age group

Answer
With my college jumpers, I use a 16 step approach for my average jumpers, more for better ones.  For junior high kids, I'd use a 14 step approach with a check mark at 4 steps.  If they're on there, they should be close on the board.  The only way to develop consistency is to practice approaches at least twice a week.
Good luck to you!
