Question
would you reccomend warming up prior to stretching during the day?

Answer
Hello Jeramy.

You should warm up by jogging for a 2-3 minute period only. Ride a stationary bike or something to loosen up. If you have practice on that day, avoid warming up, just get loosened up by walking. Stretch static only on your day's first stretch, especially early in the morning. Dynamic stretches carry a risk of muscle injury.

When going for a big stretch, run 15 minutes and wear warm clothes. Riding a stationary bike before it is even better. 5 minutes on bike, 15 minutes light jogging. Start with legs and work up to neck as you want the heat in your legs when starting to stretch.

best wishes,

Experience

I was a sprinter through track in a club and through high school together. I did track starting at the age of 9, I learned a lot through my coach and people. Through getting older and studying different training methods for strength and speed, I've also coached sprinting to my local club and have helped produce athletes from ages 8-18 become provincial and national contenders. Although I specialize in sprinting, I know every single bit about middle and long distance. I have coaches athletes from every distance to every field event. I also have coaches athletes who are looking to improve things like speed and endurance for their own sports. As also I know everything about training and information on all field events. I have read diets and made diets for athletes. I have helped coaches since I was about 12 or 13 and have coached since I was 19. I have ran 60m, 100m, 200m and different relays through my track career, earning a Athletic Scholarship at Boston University.
