Question
Hi,
This is purvi from Mumbai. We are planning our holidays to Jaisalmer, Udaypur & Jodhpur. We want to start our journey from Mt. Abu by road. Please guied me, which are the places to be visited there & how do we start journey? Awaiting for your reply

Answer
Hi Purvi,

Mt. Abu can be reached directly by train from Mumbai, you actually get down at Abu Road station and move on to Mt. Abu by 45 mins taxi ride. If you are taking a flight then you should go to Ahmedabad and then on to Mt Abu, it is about 4 hours by road from Ahmedabad.

Mt. Abu to either Jodhpur to Udaipur should be about 5 hrs by road give or take, I suggest you go to Udaipur first and after spending a few days there you should go to Jodhpur and on to Jaisalmar.

You can plan your exit from Jodhpur by air or train to Mumbai. There are many options if you could indicate your mode of travel wherein you could Fly to Udaipur adn form thereon move to Jaisalmer via Jodhpur by road. You can return from Jodhpur to Mumbai by train using Mt. Abu as a stop and again from Mt. Abu go on to Mumbai.

http://www.rtdc.in/popular%20circuits.htm This lists out various cities in Rajasthan.

In brief :
Udaipur has great palaces to visit and it is called city of lakes so these two things are not to be missed. City Palace, Fatah Prakash Palace and Lake Palace are important destinations. If you like to stay in Heritage Resorts then I would recommand Shikarwadi to you. On the outskirts of Udaipur it is a col place to stay.

Jodhpur: Mehrangarh fort, Jaswant Thada and Ummaid Bhawan Palace are three not to be missed things, the old city Bazaar in Girdikot takes you back in time and Mishrilal ki lassi is unforgattble.. (Ask for Nai Sadak) then there is Mandore Garden. If you like to see Lions and Tigres the Zoo in Public Park has a good collection of these animals.

Jaisalmer is the place to enjoy the desert and one must stay in a desert camp apart fro mthe famous Havelis and the Fort.

If you have time try and visit Chittor and or Kumbhalgarh ex Udaipur.

Have a great trip, Cheers!!

Ravi
