Question Is there any way to go to tibet directly from India?
Answer Hello Akshi,
The only way to get to Tibet directly from India is to trek along the Western border of Nepal with India cross the Lipu Lekh pass and you're directly into Tibet. Unfortunately all these passes are "no-go" areas for most civilians including Indians and are guarded by the armies on both sides. The Indian Government conducts an annual pilgrimage for Indian citizens to go to the Western portion of Tibet where the Kailash Mansarovar is located.
The western portion of Tibet is remote and even if you get there the chances of getting further transportation to other parts of Tibet are very rare.
So long story short, there is not "viable" way to get to Tibet directly from India. You have to go thru Kathmandu in Nepal from where you can either take flights or take the road journey to Lhasa in Tibet.
Hope this helps.
Nilesh
