Subject: Travel my dog from US to Brazil

Question
Dear All,

I will need to send my dog from NY to Brazil.  Could you please help me by sending a detailed description of the procedure I should watch for.

Thanks & Regards,

Jaqueline

Answer
Dear Jaqueline
There is MUCH info I need before I can address this issue!
Where are you now? Where is the dog? (city or town) When do you wish
to do this (time of year, etc)?  What major city-airport is your
final destination? Do you have a shipping Kennel? If so, I will need
maximum outside dimensions of the kennel (all three)
Kind of dog? Weight? Size?  He/she needs to be able to stand upright
head as high as possible, nose forward, and NOT have any part of the
body touch the top of kennel.
IF you are still in USA, what airline will you travel with?  If you
can, take the dog with you as excess baggage.  MUCH cheaper and would
clear customs with you.  Check with passenger reservation people for
details and cost.
You will need, at least: APHIS 7001 International Health cert issued
within 10 days of flight and endorsed by usda.  Rabies vac at least
30 days old and less than one year.  Brazil may want import permit.
We can check this out.
Once I have more specifics, then I can better advise you.
Sincerely, Jerry Mishler
