Travel with Pets - 13 year-old cat from Thailand to Mexico

Expert: jerry mishler - 7/1/2008

Question
Your advice is most appreciated.....what airline(s) would you recommend shipping our cat from Phuket (or Bangkok)Thailand to Guadalajara, Mexico?  We figure that we can use Thai International or United to the States but how about the transfer to an airline to Mexico?  We do not want to transfer in Mexico City, but fly direct to Guadalajara from the States.  In the past we have transferred in Los Angeles.  What kind of bedding do you recommend on a long-haul flight.  When our cat flew from South Africa to Singapore, she had to do her business in the case and it wasn't a pretty sight.  Thank you so very much.

Answer
Ena
Contact Pacific Pet Transport in Los Angeles for necessary transfers.
www.pacpet.com   They can take care of on ward transport to
Guadalajara.  Be sure to mention my name
We usually just put several layers of newspaper for bedding, then
shred some more paper.
Do NOT sedate.  Do NOT feed for several hours before travel. Water ok.
That's about all you can do.

Good luck
