Question Hello. My husband is moving with the US Air Force from the UK to Okinawa and would like to bring our cat with him. We brought the cat from the US to the UK on the Pet Travel Scheme approximately 3 years ago, but are unsure about the rules from the UK to Okinawa. Can you help point us in the direction of these details, or let us know if you recommend trying this at all? Thanks very much!
Answer Dear Hillary
It would be inappropriate for me to try to give definitive info
regarding two countries not including USA
Please go to page 4 of my: www.actionpetexpress.com There is a
link to Japan regulations and authorities. You would be best
advised to contact them directly with your issue.
Also, I am sure your husband has a sponsor at his new post. Have
them explore the local scene as to possible requirements.
From the USA, I ship to Okinawa the following way:
United airlines from Washington Dulles via San Francisco to Osaka,
then connect to All Nippon to Naha. Avoiding Tokyo at ALL costs.
You probably meet Japanese requirements re: microchip and blood tests
Have you been providing the cat with necessary rabies boosters
every year? You might contact DEFRA there in UK. Also have a link
from the same p.4 of my www
You might find shipping cat back to USA then forward to Okinawa.
Check these all out then get back to me as to further assistance.
