Question QUESTION: Thanks in advance for your help!
I'm moving to the UAE in October with my husband and we want to bring our 2 miniature Yorkies with us. The dogs are 3.5 pounds each, and one has health issues. I read online that the UAE only accepts pets into their country as cargo. We cannot do that with our fragile little dogs, they'd never survive plus they have separation anxiety. I called KLM and they said that I could keep my dogs in cabin with me (under the seat) all the way from the USA to Amsterdam then to Abu Dhabi. My question: obviously the airline and the country rules are conflicting. Will I be able to get away with carrying them in cabin or will I be denied access into the UAE? Second question: is there any way around this...perhaps flying to Europe with the dogs in cabin then we could take a shorter flight where they dogs could go as cargo? Any advice would help!

ANSWER: Sorry, the person at KLM does NOT know what they are talking about.
Pets MUST ONLY enter UAE as cargo, no exceptions.

QUESTION: We're coming from Texas. My husband called the UAE embassy in washington, DC and they said that the UAE government has an arrangement with the airlines so the airline is the one who makes the rules. so, if the airline is ok with it then the government is ok with it. I'm wondering if anyone has just tried to take their pets in cabin... and if so, what happened when they arrived to the airport in the UAE? Will you be turned back? If anyone has experience in this, I'd really appreciate the advice. Thanks again!
Answer I think the UAE embassy is giving you wrong info. All the pet
shippers in UAE have always indicated that pets MUST travel only as
cargo. Again, I strongly urge you to contact the above pet shipper
in Abu Dhabi. If you want other opinions, there are other pet
