Subject: older microchip

Question
We are travelling to Hungary via France at the end of the summer with our older lab. She has her rabies shots, I've downloaded the bilingual health certificates for the two countries, but the question is her microchip.

My dog was microchipped seven or eight years ago (Home Safe brand) and this chip is apparently NOT compatible with the new EU ISO required.

Should I get her re-chipped? The other option is to bring the old chip reader with us when we travel, though the AHPIS, EU, and French websites I have visited have not been explicit about whether or not this is still accepted.

Answer
Please visit  www.ipata.com   Contact pet shippers in France for
their advice.
I would think getting a new microchip would just be the best way,
however, take your scanner with you.  This way you can meet all
possible situations.
It is best to speak with someone right on the scene who probably has
dealt with similar problems.
Regards, Jerry
