I live in Madrid, and travel frequently to Valencia. I have also travelled to many places all over spain, if haven't been there i'd try to help anyway providing my knowledge and links. I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.

Travel to Spain - Torrevieja to Cordoba

Expert: Víctor Díaz - 10/9/2008

Question
Hi, I'd really like to travel from torrevieja to cordoba to see the mezquita. Could you advise the best way of doing this journey i.e car, train.

Answer
Hello Irfan

Best way would be by car... as there is no direct link with Cordoba and no train station in torrevieja you woul have to use a bus to get to Alicante (takes about 1h)or Murcia (i don't know how much time it gets) and from there another transport to get to Cordoba.
Buses Torrevieja-Alicante and Torrevieja-Murcia

But it can be done with public transport, best way is by car because would be the fastest way and the most confortable, but also may be more expensive if you have to rent a car and you are travelling alone. For 4 people travelling would be probably the cheapest way if you share the cost of the rent and the gas.

By bus  http://www.alsa.es
schedule for a friday in october:
..From Alicante: dep time/arr time/ cost/round trip cost
ALICANTE  CORDOBA 07:00 15:15    36,64€ 72,21€      ----> need to change bus in Murcia !!!!
ALICANTE CORDOBA 23:45    07:35    38,14€    72,47€    direct bus.

..From Murcia:
MURCIA  CORDOBA 08:30    15:15     31,30€ 62,60€ direct bus.

By train with renfe http://www.renfe.es/
No direct trains from Alicante or Murcia.
From Alicante you have to take at least two trains, for example
04141 ALVIA    10:35    11:56   to ALBACETE
00697   Garcia Lorca   13:30   18:10 to Cordoba

Heading to Albacete or Madrid, heading to Madrid means doing hundred of km in the wrong direction.

I think the best option here is the direct bus from Murcia or the overnight direct bus from Alicante.
