Question
how far is salou tarrgona from barcelona proper. is there a train that goes to barcelona daily?, how many times a day.

Hello theresa
At the confusing renfe site http://www.renfe.es/ if you try to find the trains directly only appears those whose tickets can be purchased on line, that's it, have numbered seats.
If you try to find the same trains by the 'todos los trenes' or the english version, the site will show you all the trains, even those whose tickets can't be bought online since they haven't numbered reserved seats.

near 'i want to travel from' click on the button 'stations'
a list of stations will be shown, click on the 'S' and then find 'Salou' on the list.
Now you'll be showed a list of direct destinations from Salou. Click on Barcelona and the schedules of trains will appear now. It's a long list to copy-paste here, that's why i give you the stepts to obtain it.
