I live in Madrid, and travel frequently to Valencia. I have also travelled to many places all over spain, if haven't been there i'd try to help anyway providing my knowledge and links. I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.

Question
I have enjoyed reading your previous answers, but saw nothing about this. We will be in Granada during the Christmas and New Years holidays.

We are seriously entertaining the possibility of a few days in Melilla for warmth, being off the beaten path with no crowds and possibly going into Morocco. If we did that, we'd extend our visit. We are not rush around and see everything visitors. We'd rather visit one place well than run through all the famous places and see little.

What do you think about a visit to Melilla??

Answer
Hello Tom

Here you have more information about Melilla
http://www.melillaturismo.com/

i think there wouldn't be too much differente of temperatures with Costa del Sol and the nearest coast to Granada.

But it's out off the normal tourist routes, even for spaniards. As you are thinking to get there as part of a travel to Morrocco it's ok, because this city is small and need to take a plane or spend 6 hours of ferry to get there.

No public transport to get to Marruecos, i have read that you should get a taxi to the border, cross walking, take another taxi to Nador and from there buses.

If you finally focus just in Marruecos it would be probably easier moving to Tanger or Nador directly with ferry from Spain.

Other option is to get into Marruecos from Melilla or Nador, do a route there and finish in Ceuta or Tanger to get back to Spain.

I hope this helps a bit, given my very limited knowledge on Melilla.
