I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.
Question my 18 year old son and his friend have 10 days left at the end of their trip and would like to go to a coastal area in Spain. They will be starting in Nice on the 4th of August.and need to leave from Barcelona on the 13th of August . He has been looking at Menorca. What can you recommend? I know it is the busiest time of year.

Menorca is a nice island, despite i have never been there i have read some good reviews. It's a good destiantion for beaches not as overcrowded as the other Balearic island. With this information, a nice place, quieter than the other islands, i wonder if this would be the best destiantion for 18 years old teenagers.
Probably they would enjoy a place not so quieter, in Palma de Mallorca or even in Ibiza.
Another place not far from Barcelona which they may enjoy: that's it good beaches but also lot of people and things to do, is Salou and it has good conection with Barcelona by train.
My choice would be Barcelona for a few days and then Ibiza.
