Travel to Spain - Driving directions: Madrid to Barcelona

Question We are going to drive from Madrid Airport to a small village outside Barcelona. We know that the easiest route is via the main highways, but we were wondering whether there is a more scenic route we could follow.
We don't plan to stop too many times or for too long during the journey, but would like to have good views along the way, instead of simply staying on the highway.
Thank you very much!
Answer Hello Lisa
I don't know personally any scenic route along your way to Barcelona. Given the long distance a route only by secondary roads would take you many many hours, probably a combination of highways and roads may be suitable for you.
The sightseen route recommended in ViaMichelin takes almost 9h and uses some highways

I don't know if this route really worths the effort or not.
Alternatively you may plan the highway route with brief stops at Monasterio de Piedra or Zaragoza.

I hope this helps a bit.
