Travel to Spain - Denia to Madrid Airport by car
Expert: Víctor Díaz - 10/29/2009
Question We will be traveling in April-May to Denia. We will have a rent car and plan to fly back to the USA from Madrid. How long is the drive from Denia to the Madrid airport? Are there any known conditions that would make this trip a problem?
Thanks for your time!
George
Answer Hello George
Use ViaMichelin to take a look to the route Denia-Madrid airport
http://tinyurl.com/yzylu3q
Roughly is take AP7 (tolled) towards Valencia, before reaching the city use the bypass A7 and exit heading A3 to Madrid, then kust follow the road all the way.
In the middle of the route Valencia-Madrid, after the windmills near Honrubia, are several places to stop and take a break or eat something. Along the rest of the highway are mainly gas stations with parking and an small cafe most of the times.
Near Madrid you could use A3 instead of R3 suggested, A3 is free of tolls, R3 is a better highway that will save you a few km but it is tolled. I recommend it if A3 look congested.
Whatever you choose, A3 or R3 take M40 ring in Madrid heading to A2 and airport, then follow indications to the airport.
Check your terminal, new T4 is a bit away from old T4,2,1 and has it's own parking facilites and return rented cars.
at spanish airports site (with english version available)
http://www.aena.es
choose Madrid airport to see all the information you need to return your car.
I don't think there could be any conditions, apart of traffic, you may expect heavy traffin heading to madrid the following days:
2 or 3 of may, and 4th of april.
i hope this helps.
